Combined volume and surface rendering with global illumination caching

Abstract We present a combined volume and surface rendering technique with global illumination caching. Our approach uses volumetric path tracing to compute the local shading models for isosurface. By joining both visualization approaches, we have enhanced display of surfaces while preserving physically realistic participating media. To achieve real-time performance avoid recomputing image when camera view changes, incrementally defer projection later step. evaluated our by comparing different isosurface result full non-caching variant technique. Results show that caching variants perform comparably well, has added benefit being camera-view-independent. Additionally, emphasizes within volumes better than tracing.
